Bangladesh's Paralysed Railway

চরিএের দিক থেকে শান্ত স্বভাবের হলেও বেহুদা প্যাচালে বিরক্ত হই। একটু বেশি আবেগী। Recently, i went Chittagong with my some friends in a trip. We were six in numbers. Because we are University students, we decided that we would go there by train, so that we can enjoy our journey whole the way. Unfortunately, the responsibility of managing train tickets were imposed upon me. Thanks them, that i got a bitter experience to collect train ticket. It seemed to me as Golden Deer. I stood a long row to collect tickets, when i reached in front of ticket. The disappointing voice of ticket provider broke my heart. He rashly and rudely even crudely informed me that all tickets of Turna Express have already been sold. After Appointing new Minister for Bangladesh Railway, Mr. minister Ordered that advance tickets can be issued before three days of departure. I went 1st day at morning. He said me all tickets have been sold within one hour in the morning. I was astonished, how much technological advancement has been made in our railway! how speedy and speedy services are delivered to customers! Am i in Bangladesh! Is it possible to distribute above 2000 tickets within one hour? Are above 2000 passengers have gathered to collect advance tickets? Even they show me the computer screen. It was written that 'No seat available'. I was really disappointed, because my friends were determined to go by train. From my curiosity, i informed the matter to one of my uncle who is serving in BD's railway, Dhaka. He tried to collect tickets for me, but failed. He was informed that there were two AC tickets available, but have to be paid 700 taka for per tickets, though the actual price of tickets were 350 taka for per AC tickets. I refused to buy these two tickets, i need six tickets. I came back that day, and went again rail way next day. I was amused and really frustrated so see and observing chaotic and mismanagement of BD's rail way. They actually cheating with maximum of the customer. Whenever you ask for train tickets to them, in most of the time their answer is same, 'ticket is not available'. I managed one of the Hackers Mobile Number and communicated with him, he gave consent they he would give the required tickets. For a while, i become happy at last might be i got tickets. But it was completely a false commitment. He disguised from me and switched off his mobile. Then i conducted with other blacker on spot, he agreed to give me six tickets, but in high price. He said to me, he had to buy tickets in higher prices, so no way without selling in higher prices. After a huge negotiation he agreed to give me tickets for 350 taka per tickets, though actual price were 150 taka if i could collect from counters. I saw many Blacker on spot, they are selling tickets to customers. We are blackmailed by Blacker, we have no alternatives, because maximum tickets holders are blacker. Some blacker show me that, they collected more than 15 tickets. How are they doing such illegal activities in rail way, where police, ansars always stay in duty. They say me that all profit from black marketing train tickets they can not consume. They have give a substantial portion to duty police and answer or rail way officers. By managing them they are doing such activities almost openly. I personally noticed that, a blacker, name khokon, was captured by a police. He brought him to rail way officer, he released im without any warning. I write this blog, because today we heard that a person who is APS of Mr. Minister, has been captured BGB with 70 lakh taka. We see a lot of passengers use rail way for as medium of journey. But our Railway department giving loss years after years. We hoped a revitalization of our rail way after appointing rail way minister. But seems it is not possible with existing structure and staff of railway. They are using railway to fulfill their own interest not for the country. All Loss of railway, i think, go some people's pockets. They are in chain, they are in syndicates, they will create obstacles to any reforming initiatives in railway. I think we can make our railway as a profitable institution if we can break this chain and syndicates. I would not suggest privatization of our railway because most of the poor people regard railway as cheaper medium for transportation, i would suggest more digitization, monitoring by intelligence agency. Fire of corrupted officials if proved.
