হতেও পারে আজ রাতে খাবার পর বাসার ছাদে সিগারেট টানতে গিয়ে হঠাৎ আকাশের তারাগুলির দিকে চোখ আটকে গেলো আর মনে পড়ে গেলো ছোটবেলার সেই কবিতা “Twinkle twinkle little star ” । বারবার মনে করতে চেস্টা করলাম কবিতার লেখক জানি কে ? নাহ পারলাম না । তারপর এইরকম আরও বেশকিছু কবিতার লেখকের নাম মনে করার চেস্টা করলাম । একটাও পারলাম না। তাই নিজের জন্যই খুজতে শুরু করলাম ।

Up above the world so high, Like a diamond in the sky এই ছড়াটির উৎপত্তি মূলত একটি ইংরেজী গান "The Star" থেকে , যার লেখক জেন টেলর , প্রথম প্রকাশিত হয় ১৮০৬ সালে । নিচে "The Star" গানের সম্পূর্ন লিরিকটা দেয়া হলো Twinkle, twinkle, little star, How I wonder what you are. All the king's horses and all the king's men Couldn't put Humpty together again ঐতিহ্যগতভাবে প্রচলিত হয়ে আসছে , এর সঠিক লেখক সম্পর্কে কিছু জানা যায়নি । এটি ইংল্যান্ডে সর্বপ্রথম ১৮১০ সালে প্রকাশিত হয়।
