আচ্ছা,বলুন তো -পল ম্যাথিয়াসের সাথে 'চকচকে গোল জিনিষটা'র কোথায় মিল আছে? আপনি হয়তো চট করে বলে দিলেন,- 'আরে ঐটা ওর টাক মাথা ছাড়া আবার কি?! ' উঁহু! ভুল!! কারণ পলের একমাথা কাল ঘন চুল! একদম পাখির বাসার মতো অগোছালো! শেষ কবে চুরুনীর আঁচড় পরেছে নিজেই জানে না! আসলে সত্যি বলতে কি, পলের সব কিছুই খুব অগোছালো। ও নিজেই ওরকম। তাছাড়া লোকজনও খুব একটা কেউ গা করেনা ওর ব্যাপারে। পলকে জানাটা লোকেদের জন্য খুব একটা সুখকর কোন অভিজ্ঞতা না! তাহলে, কি সেটা?! তার চশমা হতে পারে না। কারণ সেটা গোল তো না ই, চকচকও করে না! বরং মোটা, ভারী, ঘষা কাঁচগুলি একটা ময়লাটে কালো ফ্রেমটাকে কোনমতে আঁকড়ে ধরে আছে! দেখলে আত্মভোলা এক প্রফেসরের কথা মনে পড়িয়ে দেয়! তাই বলে পলকে তেমন কেউ ভাবলে ভুল করা হবে! পলের কোন যোগ্যতাই নেই, প্রফেসর তো অনেক পরের কথা! যাই হোক, এভাবে একটার পর একটা অনুমান করে যেতে থাকলে, পাতার পর পাতা - পলের নানার দিকের অনেক কিছুর বর্ণনা দিয়ে ফেলা যাবে, যেগুলির সাথে ঐ 'চকচকে গোল জিনিষটার' কোন সম্পর্ক নাই! একসময় আপনি বিরক্ত হয়ে ভাবতে শুরু করবেন!- 'কোন দুঃখে এই গল্পটা পড়া শুরু করেছিলাম!!' যেটা আমি মোটেই চাইনা। তাই নিজের স্বার্থেই এই ধাঁধাঁটা এক জবাবেই খতম করে দিতে চাই! আসলে আমাদের চেনা পল এর সাথে কোন 'গোলাকার চকচকে কিছু'র কোথাও কোন মিল নেই!! এখানেই আমার গল্প শেষ! কি ? ফানি না? Now I could go on like this forever, or if not forever, then for a long time wasting many pages for describing different features of Paul that had nothing to do with circular shiny object. Thus making you wish, you never had started reading this storey, which I did not want to do, for reason of my own, so let me solve the riddle for once and for all.
