What Makes the Galaxy Gear Tick [VIDEO]

Samsung's Galaxy Gear is the device that was supposed to help make wearable tech mainstream. Unfortunately, as we covered in our full review, it just isn't ready.
With something like the Galaxy Gear, text and photos only go so far, so we've done our best to give a full overview of Samsung's big move into wearables.

Even though we're not blown away by the overall experience of the Galaxy Gear, that doesn't mean there isn't a lot of interesting stuff going on.
The integration with S Voice and the ability to make phone calls directly from your wrist is cool. Maybe not entirely useful, but cool nonetheless.
Plus, there's a lot of interesting tech in the watch itself. From its 320 x 320 Super AMOLED touch screen to its integrated 1.9-megapixel camera, this isn't a "watch" so much as a miniature phone or tablet.
The real story of the Galaxy Gear — and wearables in general — are the apps. This is both where the Galaxy Gear has its best moments and where it ultimately fails to really ignite. The good news is there are already a lot of apps available — with more coming all the time.
The bad news is that there isn't that "killer app" for the product and the built-in integration leaves a lot to be desired — especially with notifications.
