LOS ANGELES — Instagram wants you to play journalist during the Golden Globes red carpet. The Facebook-owned photo company exclusively told Mashable it will debut its InstaStop Video Q&A Station — an interactive booth at which celebrities will view fans' video questions and answer them with 15-second videos of their own — on Sunday.
This new large touchscreen station is the next evolution of Instagram's InstaStop (iPad photobooth), which made its first major awards show appearance at the 2013 Emmy Awards to give viewers a glamorous dose of filtered celebrity selfies. Previously, stars used the InstaStops at the Teen Choice Awards, New York Fashion Week and the US Open.

For the Q&A station, people can submit questions by tagging their Instagram videos with #AskGlobes. Celebrities' answers will appear on the @GoldenGlobes Instagram account. Meanwhile backstage, an iPad on a tripod will serve as a smaller InstaStop that Golden Globe winners can use to take selfies after they give their acceptance speeches.

"Instagram and Hollywood are a natural pair," Emily White, Instagram's director of business operations, previously told Mashable about the InstaStops. "Over the past several years we've seen media and technology coming together and Instagram is one of the companies at the center of that. Our community is using Instagram to capture those moments — big and small — which gives people a unique and 360-degree look into Hollywood."

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association and its exclusive social media agency, mhCarter Consulting, worked with Instagram to get the setups ready for Sunday.
"[We are] always looking for new ways to make fans part of the excitement of the Golden Globes," Lorenzo Soria, vice president of HFPA, told Mashable.
The 71st Golden Globes airs Jan. 12 at 5 p.m. PT on NBC; red carpet begins at 2:30 p.m.
