Old Spice's Latest Ad Campaign Is Hair-Raising

A man's lush head of hair channels his id in a characteristically bizarre new ad for Old Spice's new line of hair-care products, its first foray into the category.
In the ad, a guy at a meeting sends his mop of hair over to a woman across the table. Charmed, she writes down her phone number. (Reality check: Do people still do that in 2014?)

Things get weirder in the brand's second new hair care spot. Here another guy's similarly mobile mane impresses a girl on a boardwalk by winning her a baby at an arcade claw machine.

Hitting stores this month, the line will include shampoos, conditioners and styling products. With any luck, the marketing magic that resurrected the brand in 2010 will extend to the new segment.
The Procter & Gamble brand can go months without any new high-profile advertising, but this month has been on a roll. In early January, Old Spice introduced the head-scratching "Smellcome to Manhood," which featured moms singing about missing their sons now that they've become men. Last week, spokesman Isaiah Mustafa returned to stage "Internetventions" at unmanly websites.
Don't expect to see the brand during next week's big game, though. The brand is sitting out the Super Bowl, though it will release the first ad, "Meeting," that Sunday.
