Google Doodle Celebrates Legendary Author John Steinbeck

Novelist John Steinbeck would have been 112 on Thursday and to mark the occasion, Google has created an engaging, interactive doodle for its search homepage that highlights some of the author's most memorable works.
Born in 1902, Steinbeck is probably best known for The Grapes of Wrath, a depression-era tale that traces the struggles of ex-con Tom Joad, who breaks parole and tries to lead his family from Oklahoma to California — through through the Dust Bowl — to a better life. Henry Fonda memorably portrayed the character in the 1940 film adaptation.

Google's Doodle lists some of Steinbeck's books.

Google's interactive doodle displays art for the story and a portion of Joad's famous quote: "Then I'll be aroun' in the dark. I'll be ever'where — wherever you look."
The Doodle also features quotes from Cannery Row, Of Mice and Men, The Pearl and Travels with Charley, which is a more autobiographic tale about Steinbeck's late-in-life road trip with his dog. Each quote has a share button so you can share it on Facebook, Twitter and Google+.
Steinbeck died in 1968 at the age of 66.
