March Madness: When Studying Doesn't Stand a Chance

The first two days of March Madness always fall on a Thursday and Friday, setting up fierce competition for attention spans in classrooms across America.

In one corner: the pursuit of knowledge and deeper understanding. In the other corner: College hoops' ultimate tournament and two of the greatest days in all of sports.

School doesn't stand a chance.

Thanks to streaming video and mobile devices, it's easier than ever for sneaky kids to watch hoops instead of their teachers. In fact, Turner Sports PR tells us usage of its March Madness Live app via mobile devices this year is up 87% over the same point in the tournament last year. We're sure plenty of that uptick is coming from folks who have more quote-unquote "important" things to do.

But if you're going to turn on (your smartphone), tune in (to March Madness) and drop out (of the classroom conversation), you'd better broadcast it to the world via Twitter.

9 students who clearly have their priorities straight.

1. It's an epidemic!

2. Well, his grammar is fine, so.

3. Meow that's what we're talking about.

4. Casual.

5. So wrong. And yet, so right.

6. Cosmos, schmosmos. It's March Madness, baby!

7. March Madness is not just for boys.

8. FTFY: "Sitting in class like ... a boss."

9. The equal-opportunity approach.

But a special shout-out to the teachers who submit to March Madness' undeniable appeal

1. You could say this teacher ... rocks.

2. Her teacher >>> your teacher.

3. What is "school"?

America the beautiful, y'all.
