One of These Black Female Comedians May Be the Next 'SNL' Star

NBC's long-standing comedy show, Saturday Night Live, has auditioned several black female comedians for the current lineup. Lorne Michaels, the show's executive producer, recently announced that he would be welcoming the new cast member in the middle of the show's 39th season.

Controversy first began when cast member Keenan Thompson said that the show lacked black women because the comedians who auditioned were not "ready." The last black female cast member to grace the stage was Maya Rudolph, who left the show in 2007.
