CID takes up journalist Jamal murder case

The case for murder of journalist Jamal Uddin has been transferred to Criminal Investigation Department (CID). However, victim's father filed a petition with a court to shift the case to Rab as two policemen were transferred from Sharsha police station earlier for their alleged involvement in the case. Hearing over the petition would be held on Sunday, said police. On Wednesday, the case was transferred to CID following an order from police headquarters. Superintendent of police Kamrul Ahsan said “We urged the police headquarters to hand over the case to CID after the allegation of involvement of the two policemen in the murder of the journalist was found”. The accused policemen are ASI Masudur Rahman and constable Shahid of the police station. Jamal Uddin, 35, Kashipur correspondent of Jessore-based Bangla daily Gramer Kagoj, was killed by criminals on the night of June 15. The gang abducted Jamal from a tea stall at Kashipur Bazar under Sharsha upazila at around 11:00pm, and killed him later. The following day, the slain journalist's father filed the murder case with the police station, accusing seven people, including one Tota Mallick, of Kashipur village.
