Annual district rally of Lalmonirhat was held at Zila Parishad Auditorium on Tuesday. (General) of Lalmonirhat Abu Zubaer Hossain was in the chair.Rajshahi Range Director of the Nur Nabi Chowdhury attended the rally as the chief guest and distributed prizes among the best male and female members for their performances.Lalmonirhat Police Super Habibur Rahman, Civil Surgeon Dr Jahangir Hossain, District Animal Resources Officer Abu Hossain Sarker, District Adjutant SM Zakir Hossain, Family Planning Officer Golam Nabi Chowdhury, Upazila Ansar Company Commander Azahar Ali and Union VDP leader Lailey Begum addressed the rally.Upazila Officer Sheikh Mahfuzur Rahman conducted the function, which was participated by 300 members including upazila and union commanders, male and female union group leaders.Speakers in their address said ANSAR and VDP are playing vital role for the socio economic development of the country.Speakers also said they could contribute the maximum service in building a congenial atmosphere, healthy and better society through creating social awareness and eliminating social crimes.The speakers called for modernization of the organisation with necessary facilities to meet the challenges of the time and to build a developed `Sonar Bangla' as dreamed by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.The speakers said the is well-organised force with about 45 lakh members and the organisation is playing an important role in curbing social crimes.The members have been creating awareness about sanitation, safe motherhood, nutrition, education, agriculture, tree plantation, cottage industries and income-generating activities in rural areas, they said.Speakers said that role of the organisation is vital now to ensure smooth development in rural Bangladesh for helping the poor eradicating poverty by achieving economic self-reliance in making the Vision- 2021 programme successful.
