Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) revived the religion of God. He (pbuh) did not invent a new religion. Believers in monotheism should find this simple logic easy to understand. Since there is only One God therefore His prophets (pbut) preached the same faith to their followers. Prophets Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon them all) taught the concept of belief in One God, the God who was the Creator of all the human races and the universe. Prophet Noah (AS)’s God is not different from prophet Muhammad (swm)’s God. It’s the same God and it’s the same religion. The Holy Quran makes it clear in surah Ash-Shura chapter 42. The same religion has He established for you as that which He enjoined on Noah – the which We have sent by inspiration to thee – and that which We enjoined on Abraham, Moses, and Jesus: Namely, that ye should remain steadfast in religion, and make no divisions therein: to those who worship other things than Allah, hard is the (way) to which thou callest them. Allah chooses to Himself those whom He pleases, and guides to Himself those who turn (to Him). Although God is One and the same and religion is also the same religion of One True God we see so much bloodshed in the name of God and religion. The religious divide is the fault line in the 21st century and its most prominent in the land of revelation Palestine. Zionists occupied Palestine in 1947 and named it Israel, a homeland for mostly european jews. As a aresult of that we have muslim Palestinians waging a freedom struggle against the jewish state. Christianity is caught in the middle of this war. With western military invasions in many muslim countries and the west’s solid backing for Israel the muslim world feels it’s a struggle between Islam on one side and the Judeo-Christians on the other. From an Islamic point of view sectarian and religious differences are consequences of selfishness, greed and envy between the champions of religions. The three great monotheistic faiths have the same common roots and history of revelations, scriptures and prophetic narrations. The divisions in the people are not due to God and religion but due to human failures. More precisely it’s the failure of the religious clergy whose pride and arrogance always comes before accepting any change in their ways. Once again in surah Ash-Shura 42:14 God explains this divisive nature and its cause: And they became divided only after Knowledge reached them,- through selfish envy as between themselves. Had it not been for a Word that went forth before from thy Lord, (tending) to a Term appointed, the matter would have been settled between them: But truly those who have inherited the Book after them are in suspicious (disquieting) doubt concerning it. The Holy Quran provides the way to step away from conflict without compromising any part of faith. This is the ayah which makes me wonder how our faith leaders could miss the most vital piece of information for peace. We are commanded by God to believe in the Books of Allah and in the prophets of Allah swt, and we make no distinction between them. It is Allah who will judge not the clergy. Our responsibility is restricted to our deeds and it does not extend to others way of life. Finally, there is no contention between us and them. These are the commands in the Holy Book Al Quran, chapter 42, surah Ash-Shura, ayah 15. Now then, for that (reason), call (them to the Faith), and stand steadfast as thou art commanded, nor follow thou their vain desires; but say: “I believe in the Book which Allah has sent down; and I am commanded to judge justly between you. Allah is our Lord and your Lord: for us (is the responsibility for) our deeds, and for you for your deeds. There is no contention between us and you. Allah will bring us together, and to Him is (our) Final Goal.
