The latest flood of new information that is emerging after 39 years of our independence has me totally confused : 1. The Prime Minister has claimed that she was privy to a meeting in London between Bangabandhu and his colleagues in London when the planning for the War of Liberation was completed. Apparently, this was where Bangabandhu planned as to how many people will seek shelter in India and where the Freedom Fighters will do their training etc. 2. The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Col. Shaukat has claimed that the "Agartala Conspiracy" was real and that Bangabandhu was in fact conspiring with the Indians to liberate Bangladesh. 3. Bangalbandhu declared independence on 7th March, 1971. 4. Apart from about 5 million people who took shelter in India in 1971, about 70 million people continued to live in erstwhile East Pakistan following the orders of the Yahya government violating Bangabandhu's public instruction for not following the orders of the Pakistani government.
