Samsung's New 4K TV Is a 98-Inch Giant

Samsung certainly has its sights set on making an impact at the IFA electronics trade show in Berlin this week.
On the heels of unveiling its next-generation Galaxy Note 3 smartphone and Galaxy Gear smart watch, the company showed off a gargantuan 98-inch TV with 4K resolution (aka Ultra HD) at the event. Although the company revealed few details about the model — no word on pricing or availability — it one-upped its showstopping 85-inch S9 model ($39,999) from the 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January.

And if the latest growth spurt isn't large enough, the company said it is working on a 110-inch version too.

Samsung also teased a TV model that combines OLED (organic light-emitting diode) technology with 4K resolution, although it had done so at CES as well. A company spokesperson told CNET, the product was created to show its leadership in the tech space and "represent an unprecedented leap forward for picture quality and sharp contrast with its self-emitting pixels and natural motion."

In addition, the manufacturer launched a 55-inch Curved OLED TV, touted as the world's first with Ultra HD resolution. With a LED LCD display, the TV comes multi-view glasses and ear buds to allow two people can actually watch two different channels simultaneously (in both 2D and 3D). It is already on sale in South Korea and costs more than $13,000.

BONUS: A look at the Samsung Galaxy Gear smart watch
The Samsung Galaxy Gear extends the smartphone experience to a 1.6-inch screen on your wrist. The smart watch has a lot of promise, but it feels like an unpolished device.
The Gear has a 1.6-inch 320 x 320 touchscreen LCD. Menus look crisp, but images weren't the best.
The screen can display four apps at a time. Users will be able to download more Gear apps from a special store.
The home button is on the side -- a wise choice.
The camera is on the strap.
The camera can capture still pictures and video.
You can access some of the basic settings of the camera.
Samsung's S Voice assistant is easily accessible via the Gear.
If S Voice doesn't hear you, you'll see this message.
