U.S. President Barack Obama delivered his highly anticipated address to the American people about the conflict in Syria on Tuesday night. You can watch the entire 15-minute speech in the YouTube video, embedded above.
Obama once again pledged not to put American soldiers on the ground in the country, which is currently embroiled in a violent civil war. He expressed openness to exploring a diplomatic response to the Bashar al-Assad regime's alleged use of chemical weapons.

But the president also doubled down on his assertion that a targeted military strike would have the strongest effect in discouraging the regime to use chemical weapons again, saying that a failure for the U.S. to respond would embolden other American enemies to acquire and use chemical weapons of their own.
