It's almost the beginning of autumn, and your fall schedule will soon be filling up. It starts with a birthday celebration here and there, followed by a friend's off-season wedding and, of course, those holiday parties. Whatever the occasion, you want your hair to look just as good as your attire.
Before taking advantage of Internet tutorials, many of us thought good hair meant using magic, or at least setting up an expensive salon appointment. But with a bit of hairspray, a lot of bobby pins and a trip down the YouTube crumb trail, a fancy updo might just be possible at home.

This is one of those styles that looks much more difficult than it actually is. Your hair doesn't need to be super long to pull it off — just long enough so that you can get some tight curls, which don't have to be perfect since you'll be twisting and teasing the pieces anyway.
What You Need: Curling iron, a large supply of bobby pins
Rethink the temptation to simply plop your hair into a bun by taking a stab at this style. It helps if you have natural curls or can take the time to curl your hair first. Hair length needs to be medium to long.
Thicker hair will give you more volume, and you can part this updo either in the middle or on the side.
What You Need: Three elastics, hairspray, bobby pins
If you're a fan of the messy, windblown hairstyle — but need to pull off something elegant for an event — this tutorial is for you. It starts with a bit of curling and teasing, but you're essentially bobby-pinning two messy buns, one right above the other. The look is ideal for medium hair lengths.
What You Need: Dry shampoo (for texture), clear rubber band, bobby pins
If you have long or extremely long hair, this look is perfect. The bump is optional, and you're basically pulling your hair into a half-up style, then stacking two braids with bobby pins.
What You Need: Bobby pins, small elastics
Sometimes short hair makes life easy — it's a style in itself. But for nights out, you might want to try something different. There's nothing terribly complex about pulling off this style, but it achieves a romantic look that will match your gown and heels.
What You Need: Thermal spray, curling iron , bobby pins
