A motorcyclist Monday timed a bomb blast at the south gate of the Bangabhaban with President Iajuddin Ahmed's drive to talks with advisers. The president used the north gate to drive to the Chief Adviser's Office in Tejgaon. Nobody was injured. bdnews24.com Senior Correspondent Abu Sufian who was on assignment in the area saw a blackened spot on the road out of the Bangabhaban south gate. Guards of the Bangabhaban said they saw the attacker flee the scene on the motorbike. RAB intelligence officials told bdnews24.com the drive-by bomb attack came at 6:02pm in front of what the guards call a pocket gate, when security personnel were busy clearing the road for the president to travel to the Chief Adviser's Office. The intelligence officers declined to be named. One of them said the bomb was powerful enough to cause serious injuries. The bdnews24.com correspondent saw a polythene packet on the scene. "The attacker hurled the bomb wrapped in the packet," Raju, a member of RAB intelligence, told bdnews24.com. He would not give his family name.
