How Instagram Is Guaranteeing You'll See Celeb Selfies at the Emmys

What's a modern awards show without a few selfies or photobombs? To ensure viewers of Sunday's Primetime Emmys get a dose of filtered celebrity selfies, Facebook and Instagram are setting up "InstaStop" iPad booths on the red carpet and backstage.
"Instagram and Hollywood are a natural pair," Emily White, Instagram's director of business operations, told Mashable. "Over the past several years we've seen media and technology coming together and Instagram is one of the companies at the center of that. Our community is using Instagram to capture those moments — big and small — which gives people a unique and 360-degree look into Hollywood."

This is the first major awards show where Instagram is employing photo and video booths. Previously, people used them at the Teen Choice Awards, Do Something Awards, New York Fashion Week, One Direction's This Is Us UK movie premiere and the US Open.
The InstaStop booths are iPads in a custom-made tripod case, akin to the one Mashable saw (see photo, below) at Univision's recent award show:
Omg! Insider will manage the red carpet InstaStop — dubbed the InstaRunway — and the fashionable selfies will be posted on their Instagram account. TV host Keltie Knight teased the InstaStop on Facebook:

Inside Nokia Theatre during the ceremony, Yahoo will operate the InstaStop backstage, where the winners will stop after they leave the stage. Those photos and videos, which will appear on Yahoo TV's Instagram account, will feature celebrities holding quirky pre-made signs as well as their "I forgot to thank [fill in the blank]" moments.
"For the Emmys, we are seeing the stars and their teams capture what happens behind the scenes, all of the beauty that actually goes into making a night of great television," White said.
Presenters for the 65th Primetime Emmys on Sept. 22. are Will Arnett, Alec Baldwin, Bryan Cranston, Matt Damon, Claire Danes, Zooey Deschanel, Tina Fey, Allison Janney, Jimmy Kimmel, Amy Poehler, Sofia Vergara, Kerry Washington, Jon Hamm, LL COOL J, Mindy Kaling, Heidi Klum and more.
Elton John will perform a tribute to Liberace, whose HBO biopic Behind the Candelabra has 15 nominations ( after already winning eight at the Creative Arts Emmys last Sunday). And a special performance by Carrie Underwood (introduced by Don Cheadle) will pay tribute to two TV milestones from the 1960s: President John F. Kennedy's assassination news coverage and The Beatles performance on the Ed Sullivan show.
In addition to the annual In Memoriam section, the academy will give special recognition to five deceased actors: James Gandolfini, Gary David Goldberg, Cory Monteith, Jean Stapleton and Jonathan Winters.
