Why Does 49ers' Kaepernick Favorite Fans' Hateful Tweets?

After struggling mightily in back-to-back games, and with his team mired in a disappointing 1-2 start to the NFL season, you might think 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is staying away from Twitter to get things pointed back in the right direction.
But you'd be wrong. San Francisco's star signal-caller has given the ambiguous Twitter "favorite" designation to several harshly critical tweets from fans in the week leading up to Thursday night's divisional matchup against the St. Louis Rams.

Is he just keeping tabs on the haters? Marking the posts to read them again later? Simply obsessing over digital minutiae?
Local reporters were faced with a cryptic Kaepernick this week when inquiring about all the faves. Here's video, via Bay Area Sports Guy:

So, let's quickly recap that conversation.
Reporter: [Contrasts Kaepernick's amazing success last season and in the first game of this year with his last two terrible outings] ... How have you handled the criticism?
Kaepernick: I'm working. It's not something I listen to.
Reporter: But you did favorite all those tweets of people who were maybe critical of you. Why did you do that?
Kaepernick: It's something that I do for me.
Reporter: Does it fuel you?
Kaepernick: It helps me.
Reporter: In what way?
Kaepernick: It just helps me.
Other reporter: Is it motivation?
Kaepernick: I guess you could say that.
The tweets themselves aren't very remarkable — for the most part just your average vitriol from bitter fans. But here are a few examples of the ones Kaepernick has fave'd:
@49ers @Kaepernick7 is like a one hit song but for him a one hit season he needs to be benched or traded @espn

@Kaepernick7 I hate you so much. I hope you fall off the face of the NFL planet and end up just another could've been, but never was QB
— Dan Biertzer (@DBiertz17) September 25, 2013
Go back to Nevada program or baseball. 49ers don't want you "WE WANT ALEX" @Kaepernick7
— Trevor MacArthur (@ItsBigRedd) September 23, 2013
Ignoring sports trolls is usually the best course of action for athletes, so seeing Kaepernick favorite the angry tweets is rare and notable.
Will it actually "help" him as he claims? We'll find out on Thursday night. At the very least, though, some ticked-off 49ers fans have gotten a nice little boost to their Klout scores this week.
