16-Year-Old Boy Arrested After 'Biggest Cyberattack Ever'

A 16-year-old schoolboy from London has been arrested in connection with a cyberattack on the Dutch anti-spam group Spamhaus, which was labeled by experts as the "biggest cyberattack ever." The attack reportedly slowed down the Internet in certain areas in Europe.
The teenager, whose name is unknown at this point, was arrested by British police in April, but details of his arrest were just leaked to British press on Thursday. He was arrested at the same time as the main suspect of the attack, Sven Olaf Kamphuis, according to The London Evening Standard.

According to a confidential document seen by the newspaper, the boy "was found with his computer systems open and logged on to various virtual systems and forums" at the time of his arrest. "The subject has a significant amount of money flowing through his bank account. Financial investigators are in the process of restraining monies," the document continued.
It's unclear what role the teenager played in the massive distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack. But he is the only other person who has been arrested in the case, apart from Kamphuis, who fueled speculation about his involvement in an interview with The Daily Beast in March.
Kamphuis was a representative of CyberBunker, a hosting company that accepts any kind of website "except child pornography and anything related to terrorism." He later denied that he was behind the attacks.
The 16-year-old has been released on bail until the end of the year. No further details about the case have been made public so far.
