The Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit trailer—whose movie is constructed around Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan character, but not based on a particular novel—stars Chris Pine of Star Trek Into Darkness fame as Ryan, a CIA recruit who thinks he signed on for a desk job but winds up with a gun on the street in the middle of a Cold War conflict that is about to boil over.
The trailer also features Kevin Costner as Ryan's handler, Keira Knightley, who plays his fiancée, and director Kenneth Branagh.

Clancy, who died earlier this week at the age of 66, has written eight novels that center around Ryan, but a movie based on the fictional hero hasn't been made in 11 years. Despite that, Pine is just the next in a line of famous actors who have played Ryan, including Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck.
The latest version will hit theaters on Dec. 25.
