When he's not designing iconic Apple products such as the iPhone, Apple's VP of Design Jony Ive is passing time creating other beautiful objects.
This time, he teamed up with designer Marc Newson to create the (RED) Desk, a thin desk made of solid aluminum that looks like the perfect companion for a MacBook Air. The two-legged desk, fabricated by Neal Feay Company, features a cellular surface pattern, and generally looks like something from a sci-fi movie.
The desk will be sold at the (RED) auction, Sotheby's in New York on November 23, along with other design objects selected by Newson and Ive. These include the recently revealed special edition Leica camera, a white Steinway Grand Piano, customized by Ive and Newson, as well as unique, 18K solid rose gold Apple earpods.

The proceeds from the sale will got to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
