Students at the University of Pennsylvania the Titan Arm to increase a person's lifting ability by 40 pounds, making it ideal for workers who lift heavy loads all day and are susceptible to injury. This ingenious device, which won the James Dyson Award, will also be put to good use helping those going through physical therapy.

Since 75% of registered blind people are able to detect light, they're perfect candidates for Assisted Vision. Researchers at the University of Oxford created these special glasses, which use OLED displays for the lenses and allow the user to see objects represented in bright colors. The glasses also come with a headphone so that words and numbers, such as a bus route, can be read to the user.
Science fiction has often toyed with the idea of computer implants in our bodies to measure our physical and mental health. Tim Cannon, a biohacker from Grindhouse Wetware, took the first step and implanted a Circadia 1.0 computer chip into his arm. The device sends real-time updates to his Android via Bluetooth and monitors his vitals. Future versions of the device will be smaller, but if you can wait to let this marvel get under your skin, the first production series will be out in a few months.
