Twitter has launched a new age-screening process for alcohol brands on the social network.
If you want to follow brands like Jim Beam or Heineken on Twitter you will receive a direct message directing you to the age verification page. You have 24 hours to supply your age, and in case the age requirements are not met, you will not be able to follow that brand.

"Our hope is that this approach to age-screening will enable alcohol brands to responsibly and safely connect with the right audience on Twitter," wrote Twitter's Tarun Jain in a blog post.
Besides the two aforementioned brands, Twitter has also partnered with Bud Light, Knob Creek and Bacardi — you will have to go through the age verification process to follow any of these brands on Twitter.
The new system is actually an improved version of the age verification process Twitter had rolled out in July 2012 in partnership with Buddy Media. Twitter's web page, as well as iOS and Android devices are supported.
Clients that want to introduce the age verification process into their accounts can request access to the program here, or contact their account support.
Of course, there's no real way to stop anyone from entering a false date of birth, but that's a problem that plagues most online age verification processes out there.
