Apple has launched its Black Friday deals in Australia. Somewhat disappointingly, there are no discounts to be found in the Apple Store this year.
Instead, buyers of Apple gadgets get Apple Store Gift Cards worth up to A$150 ($137).

More precisely, buying an iPad Air will get you an Apple Store Gift Card worth A$75. An iPad mini or the iPad 2 will net you A$50; same goes for the iPod touch, while the iPod nano will get you an A$25 gift card.
Interestingly enough, there is no gift card for purchasing an iPad mini with a Retina Display; this could be due to Apple having trouble keeping up with the demand for this particular model.
Buying an iMac, a MacBook Pro or a MacBook Air will get you an A$150 gift card.
Finally, various accessories, including exotic ones such as the Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 or the Apogee JAM Guitar Input, will also get you a gift card, mostly A$25 - A$50 in value.
The deals, which should start popping up in the hours to come, will likely be similar in other Apple Stores across the world.
The gift card deals are different from last year's Black Friday, when Apple offered direct discounts (mostly around 10%) on purchases. The discounts ranged from $41 for an iPad to $101 for a new MacBook Pro — a little less than the value of the gift cards Apple is offering this year.
