New Year's Eve may seem anti-climatic for some — all that prep and only a 10-second countdown to show for it.

New Zealand and Australia have already struck in the new year with impressive light shows, Seoul, South Korea rung in 2014 with the hitting of a ceremonial bell and the Vatican was a sea of singing voices celebrating the end of 2013.
