A Snowy New Year: Your Best Instagrams From Boston to New York City

A huge storm swept through the northeastern United States Thursday night and into Friday morning, bringing with it fierce winds, bitter cold and more than a foot of snow in some areas.
This kind of weather is nothing new for this neck of the woods, nor did it cause as much damage as a similar storm earlier this year. But officials still shut down several highways due to the snow's intensity, and both New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport and Boston's Logan International Airport were both closed for periods of time. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio warned against venturing too far from home over the weekend as temperatures throughout the region remain below freezing.
