The Huffington Post is looking to do for world leaders what it did for celebrities — give them a digital platform to connect directly with readers.
TheWorldPost, a joint venture between HuffPo and the Berggruen Institute on Governance, has already confirmed U.S. President Barack Obama, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Bill Gates, the Dalai Lama, Peter Thiel, and Elon Musk as contributors.

The media outlet will feature 10 international editions online, appear in print publications around the world and replace the current "World" section on the HuffPo website, according to a press release issued on Thursday.
Arianna Huffington will sit on the site's editorial board along with Nicolas Berggruen, chairman of the Berggruen Institute, Eric Schmidt, Google's executive chairman, and Pierre Omidyar, the founder of eBay who is also pursuing a media venture with Glenn Greenwald.
Nathan Gardels, a senior advisor at the Berggruen Institute, will be the editor in chief at TheWorldPost. Peter Goodman, business editor at the Huffington Post, will take the role of executive editor.
The new site continues an international push from HuffPo that has included the launch of a German edition and a Japanese edition.
