A group of independent game developers, upset over the Candy Crush Saga creator trademarking the word "candy", are on a mission to make as many games including "candy" as possible — as quickly as possible.
Two developers launched The Candy Jam on Tuesday, a period of time during which developers must complete a game before Feb. 4. The event encourages developers to "fight trademark trolling by making games," according to its website. The games must involve candies and consider using terms like "saga" in the game's title or description "for bonus points."

While The Candy Jam seems a bit antagonistic, one of its cofounders, who goes by uuav, said on Twitter they weren't trying to resort to mean-spirited attacks.

Some of the game submissions can already be seen by tracking #candyjam on Twitter. They include the ridiculous, like Candy Carp HD, and more hostile titles like Candy Fight Saga.
On Monday, news broke of King's attempted trademark on the term "candy" in the names of games and software, educational services and clothing. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted the patent, and developers are growing concerned as to how far King will pursue the trademark.
It seems that King is also pursuing games using the word "Saga" in the title. Indie game creators Stoic Games confirmed to Gamezebo that King filed a trademark opposition to its new game The Banner Saga. The Banner Saga is an strategy game about Vikings, and is neither on mobile or related to candy. It was also on Kickstarter before Candy Crush Saga's release.
King did not respond for comment at the time of publication.
