Rap Genius is taking it to the streets.
The lyrics site has released an iPhone app that brings the site's text capabilities to mobile along with a Shazam-like feature for discovering new artists and their lyrics.

Founder Tom Lehman said in a blog post touting the new app that the move sought to satisfy increasing demand from mobile users.
"This is the true launch of Rap Genius. Right now, more than half of our traffic comes from mobile devices. Soon, it will be 100% – In 1,000 years, when the aliens land, "Rap Genius" will literally mean "that dope iPhone app," said Lehman in a press release. "This app has long been our users’ most-requested feature, and we’re pumped to finally deliver."
In addition to the site's basis in rap lyrics, Rap Genius has expanded to poetry and news, both of which will also be available on the iPhone app.
"The app's a great interface for reading stuff like Farhad Manjoo's annotations on Snapchat's "apology" from anywhere in the world, and, soon, when you can add annotations through the app, you'll be able to live-annotate this apology while (say) you're watching Evan Spiegel's comment on the controversy in his AXS keynote in person," Lehman wrote to Mashable in an email.
Rap Genius has had a busy few months. Early in January, the site signed a deal with Universal Music Publishing Group to bring in lyrics from artists such as Dr. Dre.
The company was also briefly wiped from Google's search results following allegations of inappropriate search engine optimization strategies. Rap Genius later issued a detailed explanation of the strategy and an apology, and since returned to Google's results.
