Welcome to Peyton Manning's nightmare, America: Halftime at Super Bowl XLVIII and things couldn't be going any worse for Denver's 37-year-old MVP quarterback.
The Broncos, as was widely noted these past two hyped-up weeks, entered the game with the NFL's top-ranked offense. One example of their offensive dominance was this regular season stat: The Broncos averaged a whopping 27 first downs per game.

But on Sunday, they became the first team in Super Bowl history to fail to get a single first down in the game's first quarter, according to Fox. Talk about shut down.
Denver's day got off to the worst start imaginable with an errant snap that Seattle recovered for a safety on the game's very first possession. Then Manning threw two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown.
At halftime, the score was Seahawks 22, Broncos a big fat zero.
But that's just the good news for Denver.
The bad news? No team has ever come back to win a Super Bowl from more than 10 points down, according to ESPN.

Manning, long maligned as a "not clutch" quarterback, entered Super Bowl XLVIII riding high after nabbing his NFL-record fifth MVP award this week. He also became the oldest player to ever win the trophy and had a chance to shut up his doubters with a Sunday win.
So far, on this day, however, he just looks old.
