Inspiration often comes from the most unexpected places. Sometimes we find inspiration online, in a thought-provoking TED talk or Reddit AMA. Other times, we are inspired by an emotionally resonant book or movie. But most often, we are inspired by our personal heroes — ordinary people who take extraordinary actions to enact change.
We've been thinking about inspiration and heroes a lot this month in Mashable's social book club MashableReads as we read Radiance of Tomorrow by Ishmael Beah. Set in Sierra Leone after a devastating civil war, Radiance of Tomorrow tells the story of a community trying to adapt to postwar life while still reeling from conflict. Throughout the book, many of the characters draw strength and guidance from their community and their ancestors — their heroes.

Who inspires you? For this month's MashableReads challenge, we want you to show us your heroes. It can be someone you know like a family member or teacher, or a more global figure like Steve Jobs or Malala Yousafzai. Show us on Instagram who your heroes are and be sure to tag your photos with the hashtag #MashReads. We will choose 15 finalists from the entries who will be eligible to win a prize from Ishmael Beah.
