LOS ANGELES — In a move highlighting the changing ways viewers watch TV, ABC will live stream the 86th Academy Awards online and on mobile via the network's Watch ABC app, which has offered live streamed and on-demand content since launching in May.
This will be the first time the Oscars are available through a live stream, although people who opt to watch online and on mobile instead of their televisions still must have TV subscription service to access the live feed of the ceremony and pre-show.

You can view the live stream on March 2 at Oscar.com, ABC.com and WatchABC.com, in addition to the Watch ABC app for Android and iOS.
Live streaming is currently available through Comcast, Cablevision, Cox Communications, Charter Communications, Midcontinent Communications, Verizon FiOS, Google Fiber and AT&T U-verse in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Houston, Raleigh-Durham and Fresno, ABC revealed Thursday.
After the Oscars air live, the broadcast will be uploaded to the Watch ABC app for viewers to watch on demand until March 5. The live stream and on-demand video will include the star-studded Jimmy Kimmel Live: After the Oscars special.
Like last year, the performances, acceptance speeches, red carpet highlights and memorable moments will be available as embeddable videos for viewers to watch and share across social media just minutes after airing on ABC.
Those clips include performances by Best Original Song nominees Pharrell ("Happy"), Idina Menzel ("Let It Go"), Karen O ("The Moon Song") and U2 ("Ordinary Love").
