With some internships, you're lucky if you get some free food and the occasional swag. Other internships, apparently, pay you more than $6,000 a month.
Glassdoor, a job site that features reviews from anonymous employees, just put out its annual list of the highest-paying companies for internships. There are six companies on the list that pay more than $6,000 a month (which would work out to $72,000 a year) and one company that pays more than $7,000 (or $84,000 a year).
To put that in perspective, the median household income in 2012 was $51,017.
Odds are those interns eat better than you.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Glassdoor's list is dominated by tech companies. Palantir, a company that provides data analytics to customers, including the CIA and FBI, tops the list this year. Twitter, which recently went public, comes in at No. 3 on the list, followed by LinkedIn, Facebook and Microsoft.
Glassdoor's rankings are based on data collected from companies on the site with 20 or more intern salary reports over a 12-month period ending on Jan. 23.
Earlier this month, Glassdoor released a list of the highest-rated companies for internships, which featured many of the same names. Facebook topped that list, followed by Google and Qualcomm.
