Even President Obama Wants to Be YouTube Famous

If the United States were a YouTube channel, the President would have more than 318 million subscribers. That's more than the current top 10 channels combined.
In reality, the White House's official YouTube channel currently has about 404,000 subscribers. Not exactly a number to snuff at, but the goal is to use the platform to reach a new generation. This is where YouTube celebrities can teach Obama a thing or two about delivering to the community.

Some of the biggest names on YouTube met with the POTUS about five months ago as part of a brain trust — like the unofficial Cabinet of the viral video world.

With the help of JASH and YouTube production networks, the list of digital influencers included Hannah Hart, The Fine Bros., VSauce, Epic Rap Battles, Tyler Oakley, Alphacat, and the guys from Barely Political. Collectively, this super group has more than 35 million subscribers, and nearly 300 million monthly views.
The 45-minute conversation with Obama entailed ways to engage with YouTube's audience on topics like health care, economic opportunity and anti-bullying. Considering YouTube reaches more U.S. adults ages 18-34 than any cable network, it's no wonder the President is intrigued.
Many of the individuals who met with the President have already uploaded videos talking about their experience in the Oval Office. While the video above doesn't exactly scream virility, the unofficial YouTube Cabinet has documented their takeaway from the meeting in a more Internet-friendly way.

If not the YouTube community, perhaps First Lady Michelle Obama could school the White House on a little Internet 101.
In an ad for her Let's Move campaign, the President and VP Joe Biden go for a brisk jog around the presidential palace to inspire fitness and healthy eating. After a clip of the run premiered on The Tonight Show, the FLOTUS promised that she would release the video if enough people tweeted images of them moving using the #LetsMove hashtag. Due to the overwhelming response, the video was released less than a week later.
Plus, we know how much the Internet loves a good photobomb. Your move, White House.
