Ev Williams is ready to bring his blogging platform, Medium, to your smartphone.
Medium's cofounder and CEO announced that an iOS app is set to hit the App Store in the coming week, according to Fortune reporter JP Mangalindan.

Williams, who also founded Blogger and famously cofounded Twitter alongside Jack Dorsey and Biz Stone, shared the mobile news at a tech dinner held by Fortune in Menlo Park, Calif. last Thursday. Williams also shared that the platform's user base is growing rapidly. Medium now has 13 million unique monthly users, up from nine million in December.
The new app will be the company's first, and users will reportedly only be able to consume content, not write or post content through the app. Unlike Twitter, which limits posts to 140 characters, Medium has no word or character limit, meaning users have much more freedom in what they choose to share.
The mobile app will arrive just a few months after Medium accepted its first outside investment in January, $25 million from multiple investors, including Greylock Partners and Google Ventures.
Medium was born out of The Obvious Corp, the startup incubator headed by Williams as well as Twitter cofounder Biz Stone and Twitter exec Jason Goldman. The trio helped turned Twitter into a tremendous mobile success; perhaps Medium will follow.
