Your next selfie could be your next manicure.
Nail art enthusiasts will be able to indulge their wildest design dreams with NailSnaps, an app to lets users create nail polish stickers using their personal photos.

Users position a photo on a set of digital nails to preview the final product; it can be a continuous design that becomes whole when you hold your fingers side-by-side. The stickers are then printed and shipped worldwide.
Funds for the project are being raised through a Kickstarter campaign that ends April 1. As of Tuesday, it had more than $16,000 out of its $47,381 goal.
Angel Anderson, one of the app's creators, was inspired by her love of Instagram. While images on the social network have a certain level of impermanence — showing up on your feed only to be quickly replaced by others — NailSnaps lets those photos have a place in the real world for a little bit longer. Plus, Anderson was on the hunt for unique designs that wouldn't take a lot of time to create.
"Our nails are a real canvas for self-expression," another co-creator, Sarah Heering, told Mashable. "NailSnaps is just taking a good thing to a new level."

According to Heering, the app could also have more hi-tech applications. For example, a manicure might include code that users could scan with their phones that would take them to a certain URL. Designs could also make use of electronic chips that would control things like lights or the temperature in a room.
One woman, whose husband is fighting in Afghanistan, already has big plans for her NailSnaps creations; she's combing through albums to find photos of him to use in their designs, Heering said.
NailSnaps will be available for iOS devices first with an Android version coming down the line, and is expected to officially launch this fall. The app will be free and each set of stickers will probably be priced at just under $20.
