Samsung and Fox Team Up to Bring 4K Content to UHD TVs

Every time I see a 4K television set in the flesh, I immediately start drooling and prepare to throw away my existing 1080p set. There's just one problem: a lack of 4K content. Samsung and Fox are hoping to change that.
Samsung announced a partnership with 20th Century Fox on Thursday to bring a variety of Ultra HD (UHD or 4K) content to Samsung's 4K TV using Samsung's SmartHub platform.

The partnership is an extension of Samsung's announcement at CES 2014. That partnership included the UHD Video Pack — a $300 1TB USB 3.0 hard drive, pre-loaded with UHD content, including the 20th Century Fox films Night at the Museum and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Samsung also has 4K content agreements with Netflix, M-Go and Amazon.
The ins and outs of the expanded partnership were not explained, but it appears Samsung will offer Fox a way to distribute its 4K titles directly to users, via stream or download onto a device such as the UHD Video Pack via a special app and storefront in the Samsung SmartHub.
When it comes to TVs, Samsung's focus for 2014 is all about 4K and curved screens. The company is launching an array of 4K TV sets, both curved and not, beginning this month.
