The plug is about to be pulled on Daily Candy and Television Without Pity, two websites that helped pave the way for Internet-native content, according to a representative for parent company NBCUniversal.
NBC Universal will close the sites, which have struggled to generate adequate traffic or revenue, on April 4, a spokesperson said. Staff were informed of the closings in a staff meeting on Thursday morning, according to Re/Code.

NBC purchased Television Without Pity, often called TWop, in 2007 after the site became popular for its granular coverage of TV shows including episode recaps, which have become a common piece of online entertainment coverage. The TWop forums will remain open until May 31, according to an NBC spokesperson
Comcast acquired Daily Candy in 2008. The site became a popular online destination with its lifestyle and fashion content that was created for the Internet.
