Still an amateur at the time, Woods was accompanied to the 1995 Masters -- his first appearance at Augusta -- by his father Earl, an instrumental force in his career. Here, they're shown after a practice session at Augusta. Woods tied for 41st that year, but was the only amateur to make the cut.

Woods won his first Masters -- and received his first green jacket, from Nick Faldo -- on April 13, 1997, becoming the tournament's youngest-ever champion at 21 years old.

After a prolific start to his professional career, Woods won his second Masters in 2001, taking the green jacket from Vijay Singh. That win made Woods the first player to ever hold all four major tournament titles at the same.

In 2003, Woods presented Mike Weir with the green jacket. The tournament's previous champion always presents the coveted piece of clothing to the new winner.

2004 marked the continuation of a slump for Woods. He didn't win the Masters that year, his second in a row without taking a single major. But in October 2004, he married Swedish model and nanny Elin Nordegren.

Woods had a strong showing in 2006, but Phil Mickelson, shown here at right, took the title. Several weeks after the Masters, Woods' father, Earl, who had trained him since he was two years old, died of cancer.

Woods slumped again after his father's death, but finished second in a strong 2008 Masters showing. He won the U.S. Open that year for his only major victory, then had season-ending knee surgery.

Woods sits on his golf bag during the second round of the 2009 Masters. It was the first year since 2004 Woods did not win a major tournament. In November of that year, allegations of infidelity arose and Woods was the center of a tabloid scandal – which turned out to be largely true.

Woods challenged for contention again in 2011, but ultimately fell short.

Woods' 2013 tournament was controversial for on-course reasons, as he became the latest athlete to drop an f-bomb on live television. Later in the tournament, an illegal drop led to calls for disqualification, but he ultimately took a two-stroke penalty and continued play.
