Deviation from Divine Law Destroying Marriage and Family Systems

রঙ ধরা যৌবন জঙ ধরে শেষ।

In Islam marriage is defined as a union between a male and a female. And is considered an act of worship As a meaningful institution, marriage has two main purposes. 1. To ensure preservation and continuation of the human race through family formation. Allah says; "Who created you from a single soul and from it created its mate and from them has spread abroad a multitude of men and women" (Qur’an: 4:1). 2. To provide spiritual and legal foundations to fulfill human desire: Through marriage relationship between a man and women becomes lawful. It fulfills the desire of man and woman for each other and channels it in the way of Allah. And of His signs is this: "He created for you mates from yourself that you might find rest in them, and He ordained between you love and mercy. Verily in that are Signs for those who reflect." (Qur’an 30:21) How Deviation from the Divine Law Destroyed Marriage and Family Systems: Mentioned below these examples are just a few of many. 1. Celibacy: We can see the drastic effect on individual if physical desires are denied completely. In Christianity the top spiritual leaders are discouraged to marry but this has created a lot of scandal and sex abuse by church leaders. Report shows that sex abuse by Roman Catholic priests has cost the U.S. church at least $1.5 billion since 1950 in penalties. For example 2006: Archdiocese of Los Angeles paid $60 million to settle 45 lawsuits against 22 priests. 2004: Diocese of Orange's spent $100 million to settle 90 abuse claims. (Source: Associated Press through Yahoo! News 12/1/2006) 2: Spread of obscenity: Obscenity, free mixing, free sex cause huge problems in marriage and family life. Media spread obscenity. "Sex is used to sell almost everything from toothpaste to automobiles" "From street corners to websites, obscenity and child pornography rip at heart of our moral values and too easily corrupt our communities...." (Attorney General Gonzalez said in April 2005 at U.S attorney’s conference.) “It has been reported in study that teens who watch 3 to 5 ours of T.V each day witness about 200 sex acts per year” (Roberts, 200) "Between 75% to 80% concept videos contain references to sex and violence." (Utterbachetal, 1999) “Waiting isn’t nearly as hard as having a baby or a sexually transmitted disease”(A teen of U.S who speaks for Abstinence.) 3: Teen pregnancy “About 900,000 teens become pregnant each year. The United States has the highest rate.” Many teen girls must raise their children alone. Teen fathers, who had promised marriage before their baby was born, leave. Most of them have to cut their education short. 1/3 of them can get high school diplomas. 1.5% has college degrees. So the high chance is that teen mothers will raise their babies in poverty. Many have suffered physical, emotional or sexual abuse. “Teen pregnancy is a tragedy. AIDS is a death sentence” is a quoted statement for the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SICUS). “There was study in North Carolina that showed, when their teen pregnancy prevention program stopping in 2001, the huge numbers of teens getting pregnant went up again” Donofrio added, “It shows this is something that need constant pressure.” “It’s so sad that we don’t do more about this problem.” Donofrio said, “It’s so much easier to prevent than to cure. Birth, welfare, child care education programs, all of these thing cost tons of tax payer money. The people who get hurt are the kids.” 4: single parent: Statistics from 1992 indicate that single parent families represent 30% of U.S. households, while 25% represent two parent households. It clearly showes that more children are being raised by singlre parents households. Nearly 60% of today's mother-child families live in poverty. By most objective measurements, the vast majority of mother-headed families hold a disadvantageous position in society relative to other family groups. Children in single-parent families are twice as likely to drop out of high school as children living full time in two-parent families. Children in single-parent homes are also more likely to have their own marriages end in separation or divorce, and are at higher risk for unmarried parenthood. "Working mothers according to Burden's research, receive lower salaries, work longer hours at combined job and home responsibilities, and experience greater job-family role strain and lower levels of physical and emotional well-being than male parents." 5: Children born outside wedlock:“ The numbers of births to unmarried woman in the USA have been increasing (e.g.) in 2005: 37% and in1982:22%. [Cohabiting Union (living together): 19%, Outside of Union (neither married nor living together): 18%,] "Children born into Cohabiting Union face greater risk than Marital Unions. They are more likely poor, to display problem behaviors, high risk of experiencing instability in their family structure. From the lance of the child, family formation within cohabitation is not a substitute for family formation within marriage.”(E.C.L.S. - Early Childhood Longitudinal Study) Research consistently shows that growing up with two married biological parents who are in a low – conflict relationship is the best environment in children development. 6: Disease: The center for disease control (CDC) estimates that Over 19 million STD infections occur annually. Almost half of them among ages 15 to 24. Every 9.5 minutes in the United States someone is infected with HIV. Chlamydia infection rates are higher than ever. Oral sex spreads some of STDs-such as gonorrhea, herpes, syphilis and AIDS etc. Condoms cannot protect against all STDs. expert says that Abstinence from sexual activity or being in a monogamous relationship are the safest ways to avoid STDs. How Quran has solved these problems very successfully. First Islam has prohibited any form of sex outside marriage. Islam has made marriage easy and adultery very difficult in an Islamic society. To bar sex outside marriage, Islam has also prohibited the things that encourage it such as spread of obscenity, free mixing among men and women, prostitution, pornography, homosexuality, immodesty in dress, vulgar talk etc. To ensure the peace and order in the family system.Islam has introduced a hierarchy in the family leadership where the husband had been given the top leadership which is attached with the most responsibilities and economic burdens. Parents had been given a very honorable position in the family system and the children are obliged to take care of their parents when they become old. From the above discussion on marriage, it is clear that when mankind has deviated from the Devine Law provided by The Creator, they have been away from the peace and happiness that they have always wanted. In other words, it is the Law of Allah, that can make people happy in their lives, including marriage and family life. (কিছু সোর্সঃ কোরান ডট কম)
