সুশীলের ভেকধারী এক মহা ভন্ড!

Meat Loaf এর গান আমি তেমন শুনি নাই। মাত্র তিনটা গান শুনেছি। কিন্তু তিনটাই অসাধারন। Michael Lee Aday একাধারে গায়ক এবং মঞ্চ ও রুপালি পর্দার অভিনেতা। সে গানের জগতে Meat Loaf নামেই পরিচিত।

তার ব্যান্ডের নাম Neverland Express. তার প্রথম অ্যালবাম Stoney & Meatloaf ১৯৭১ সালে রিলিজ হয়। ক্যারিয়ারের প্রথম দিকে সে আমেরিকার থেকে ইউরোপে আগে জনপ্রিয়তা অর্জন করে। ব্যক্তিগত জীবনে সে ৫০ টিরও বেশি সিনেমা বা টিভি অনুষ্ঠানে অভিনয় করেছে আর ঋণখেলাপিও হয়েছিল একাধিকবার। ইউনিভার্সিটি অফ নর্থ টেক্সাসে পড়ার সময়ে তাকে আর্মি ড্রিলের জন্য ডাকা হয়। সে এইটা এড়াবার জন্য সাড়ে চার সপ্তাহে ৬৮ পাউন্ড ওজন বাড়ায়! Back out of Hell পিটার প্যানের একটি মিউজিকাল, Neverland, থেকে সে উৎসাহ পায় এই অ্যালবামটি করার জন্য।

এই অ্যালবামটি কম্পোজ করার পরে প্রায় আড়াই বছর তারা রেকর্ড কম্পানিগুলোর পিছে পিছে ঘুরেছিল। অবশেষে ১৯৭৭ সালে রিলিজ পায় অ্যালবামটি। আর এখন পর্যন্ত প্রায় ৩৪ মিলিয়ন কপি বিক্রি হয়েছে আর ৯ বছরের বেশি সময় ধরে চার্টে ঝুলে ছিল। অস্ট্রেলিয়া আর ইংল্যান্ডে অ্যালবামটি বেশ জনপ্রিয় হয়। তবে মেলা সময় লাগিয়ে।

ইংল্যান্ডে ৪৭৪ সপ্তাহ ধরে টপ চার্টে থাকে। এর থেকে বেশি থাকার রেকর্ড আছে একমাত্র Fleetwood Mac এর। আর আমেরিকাতে জনপ্রিয়তা পায় অনেক দেরিতে। প্রথম লাইভ শো করার সময়ে দর্শক তেমন পছন্দ করে নাই গানগুলো, কিন্তু শেষের দিকে এসে Meat Loaf বাজি মেরে দেয়। তার ২য় লাইভ পারফরমেন্সে তার প্রমাণ মেলে।

তেমনি এক কনসার্টের সময়ে সে পা ভেঙ্গে ফেলে। গানের জগত থেকে দূরে সরে যেতে বাধ্য হয়ে হতাশাগ্রস্থ হয়ে পড়ে আর সেইসময়ে কোকেইনে আসক্ত হয়। এমনকি আত্মহত্যার চিন্তাও সেই সময়ে তার মাথায় ঢুকেছিল। Back out of Hell II: Back into Hell ১৯৯৩ সালে রিলিজ হওয়া এই অ্যালবামটি ১৪ মিলিয়নের বেশি বিক্রি হয়েছে এই অ্যালবামটি। I’d do anything for love (But I wont do that) গানটি ২৮টি দেশে নাম্বার ওয়ান ছিলো।

টানা সাত সপ্তাহ ইউকে টপ চার্টের শীর্ষে ছিল। আমেরিকাতে প্ল্যাটিনাম সার্টিফিকেট জিতে নেয় এই গানটি। গ্রামি আওয়ার্ডও জিতে নেয় এই গানটি। Michael Bay (ডিরেক্টর, প্রডিউসার, Transformers, Armageddon, The Rock, Pearl Harbour, Bad Boys, and Bad Boys II) এই গানটি সহ নিচে উল্লেক করা গান দুইটির ডাইরেক্টর ছিলেন। I’d do anything for love (But I wont do that) গানটির মিউজিক ভিডিও Beauty and the Beast (ফেয়ারি টেল) and The Phantom of the Opera (ভুতুরে ফিকশন বলা যায়) অবলম্বনে বানানো।

মিউজিক ভিডিওটিতে দেখা যায় নায়ক একজন ভুত (ভুত না বলে অন্য একটা শব্দ কি দেয় যায় চিন্তা করতেছি)। সে একটি মেয়ের পিছু নেয়। অবশেষে মেয়েটিকে যখন পায় তখন আয়নায় নিজের ভুতুরে চেহারা দেখে পিছিয়ে আসে। তারপর মেয়েটি তার চেহারা দেখে প্রথমবারের মত। আর মুখে হাত বুলিয়ে দেয়।

তখন ভুত মিয়া আবার মানুষ হয়ে যায়। অডিও লিঙ্ক Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are গানটিও বেশ জনপ্রিয় হয়েছিল। টপ চার্টে বেশ কিছুদিন ঘোরাঘুরিও করেছিল। এই গানটির লিরিক্সে Meat Loaf এর ছেলেবেলার কিছু ঘটনা চলে আসে। গ্রীষ্ম, বর্ষা আর বসন্ত ঋতু দিয়ে লিরিক্সটি সাজানো হয়।

গানটিতে একজন বয়স্ক মানুষের কথা বলা হয় যাকে তার পুরান স্মৃতি তাড়া করে বেড়ায়। এই গানটিতে Robert Patrick (Terminator 2 এর ভিলেন) অভিনয় করেন। Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through গানটি বিলবোর্ড টপ ১০০ তে ১৩ নাম্বারে আসে। ইউকে তেও বেশ সাফল্য পায়। লিরিক্সে মূলত বুঝানো হয়েছে গান জীবনে কত কিছু দিতে পারে।

মিউজিক ভিডিওটিরে অ্যাঞ্জেলিনা জোলি অভিনয় করেছিল। ঘর পালানো জোলিকে ভবিষ্যতবক্তা Meat Loaf সান্ত্বনা দেয়, দুর্বৃত্বদের হাত থেকে বাঁচায়। মেয়েটিকে দেখায় বিভিন্ন ভবিষ্যত, একটি বাচ্চাকে বাঁচায় গাড়ি বোমা থেকে। অবশেষে লাস্ট সিনে মেয়েটি তার বাবা মায়ের কাছে ফিরে যায়। এখন পর্যন্ত সর্বমোট ১১ ট অ্যালবাম রিলিজ হয়েছে Meat Loaf এর।
