It's not surprising when comedians are funny — that's their job. But when they're so funny (or absurd) that even they can't stop themselves from laughing, it's endearing.
And when Stephen Colbert breaks character, it's magic.

Last week, Colbert broke down during a segment on Hanukkah and Thanksgiving overlapping this year. His attempt at drawing a menorah by holding a sharpie in his mouth and tracing his hands — which resulted in him accidentally drawing a Hitler mustache on his face — was too ridiculous for even him.
But luckily for us, watching him break down in laughter is so, undeniably better than the original joke.
