Top 10 Tech of 2013 According to Tumblr

Digital content, like PDFs and JPEGs, can be altered, manipulated and saved on a number of touchscreen gadgets. This device created by Fujitsu does the same with paper in real life without having to scan it first. Simply select a portion of the paper to manipulate and the digital copy will appear right before your eyes.
Technology and fashion don't always go hand-in-hand, but when they do work in tandem, it can create amazing effects. This spider dress, designed by Anouk Wipprecht, has six robotic limbs that react to outside stimuli.
The IRIScan Mouse makes novel use of the typical computer mouse. Just run the mouse over whatever you wish to scan and it will appear on the screen. While there are other scanning mouse models, the users of Tumblr are enamored with this one.
This year has been all about 3D printing and modeling, but what makes Mataerial unique are the gravity-defying designs. Created by Petr Novikov, Sasa Jokic from the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) and the Joris Laarman Lab, this device makes 3D designs possible from any direction, even from a 90-degree angle.
Samsung showcased a prototype of a flexible OLED screen smartphone at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The screen would be able to bend and fold while remaining interactive. LG also announced it would be creating a similar model in late 2013.
Facial recognition technology is better and more accurate than ever, which may not be a positive for those who value their privacy. This visor, developed by Japan's National Institute of Informatics, can help disguise your face from cameras using 11 near-infrared LEDs located near the eyes and nose.
Created by the University of Southern California's Computational Learning and Motor Control Lab, LittleDog Robot is an autonomous quadruped. The bionic puppy can learn as it moves through terrains, making it perfect for traversing through unknown territory. Perhaps due to its its size, design or unique motions, Tumblr users loved this gadget in 2013.
This little blue dragonfly robot might appear to be just a simple gadget, but the BionicOpter is a complex piece of machinery. It has an impressive range of motion thanks to the dual sets of wings and a small body filled with sensors and actuators, making it the most high-tech bug in the air.
The 3Doodler is perfect for those who have dreamed of making drawings pop off the page. You plug the pen in and, in a few minutes, you can begin creating 3D artwork with its heated plastic. You can even draw vertically without worrying about the line drooping over and it cools instantly so you won't get burned by your doodle.
For the many world travelers who have yet to master a multitude of international languages, Word Lens may be a saving grace. The app can translate signs from a number of languages into your native tongue in real time, making it essential when visiting a foreign country and helpful to Tumblr users from all around the world.
In Tumblr's year-in-review round up, the blogging platform collected some of the most popular posts on the site under several different categories. According to the review, Tumblr calculated popularity by factoring in "total volume of posts and tags (including reblogs) and total traffic." Tumblr users are passionate about a number of subjects, so it's no surprise the most popular tech posts highlighted some of the most innovative tech of 2013.
The social media site encourages various types of media, which means that posters don't need to rely on images alone to show off new and innovative tech that inspires them. Tumblr's design allows users to view GIFs as part of a whole post seamlessly, like a regular photo. This means users can view the technology in action right on their screens as opposed to loading a video or viewing still shots in succession.
