NASA Space Selfie Is Out of This World

The selfie phenomenon has gone into orbit.
Astronaut Mike Hopkins, a flight engineer on NASA's Expedition 38, was the subject of an out-of-this-world selfie on Christmas Eve, during the second of two spacewalks on the International Space Station. The image was posted on NASA's website.
While any selfie from space is clearly a legendary feat, Hopkins gets bonus points for being photobombed by none other than planet Earth.

Hopkins was part of the team that worked to fix the ISS cooling system by successfully repairing an external water pump. He was joined by NASA astronaut Rick Mastracchio — who is reflected in Hopkins' helmet.
The 2013 spacewalk was the second ever walk to occur on Christmas Eve, the first occurring 14 years ago.
Though Hopkins' arms are stretched out in classic selfie position, it's not ultimately clear whether he's taking the picture and if we can technically classify it as such. Either way though, we're thinking NASA should double down and rename itself something more modern. National Aeronautics and Selfie Administration, anyone?
