On Jan. 1, the entertainment world lost James Avery, best known for his role as Philip Banks (a.k.a. Uncle Phil) on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Avery left a legacy as one of TV's favorite uncles, the tough-love role model to Will Smith's West Philadelphia goofball character.

Uncle Phil was a fountain of knowledge, always doling out advice on money, family and everything between. In honor of Avery, we remember some of Uncle Phil's greatest words of wisdom that we can (and should) all live by.
And that sometimes you have to ground your daughter for 10 years to get your point across.
