Dropbox Lands $250 Million in Funding, Report Says

Just one week after Dropbox suffered a high-profile service disruption, the cloud-storage company has reportedly closed a $250 million round of funding that put its value at nearly $10 billion.
According to sources in contact with the Wall Street Journal, a BlackRock investment fund is leading a group of investors in the new round of funding. Neither Dropbox nor BlackRock have officially confirmed reports of the new investment.

Founded in 2007, San Francisco-based Dropbox claims to have over 200 million users around the world.
If the funding news is confirmed, the surge of cash will likely help Dropbox compete even more vigorously with the likes of rival cloud-storage companies, including Box, SkyDrive, Google Drive and Apple iCloud, among others.
Dropbox and BlackRock did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
