Every four years, the Winter Olympics roll around — and practitioners of curling have to put up with the same lame jokes. Other athletes work hard to train their skills and tone their bodies, while curlers are more preoccupied with the latest Dairy Queen special, the thinking goes. After all, how much athleticism can it take to push a stone along a sheet of ice in a game that isn't exactly what you'd call fast-paced?
After looking at these photos, though, you'll never see curling or curlers the same again.

The photos below come from a pair of calendars — Women of Curling and Men of Curling — produced by Toronto-based The Curling News. They aren't just a fun novelty; the calendars raised thousands and thousands of dollars for charity.
The Curling News produced its first Women of Curling calendar for 2011. Subsequent editions followed for 2012 and 2013. The three editions raised a total of about $25,000, according to Curling News owner George Karrys. But the Men of Curling calendar has proved a true smash hit since its release in September, raising more than $100,000 since, Karrys tells Mashable. There is no Women of Curling calendar for 2014, but you can order the men's edition for yourself right here.
1. Chelsea Carey

Carey was Women of Curling's "Ms. March" in 2011. She's representing Manitoba at the Canadian nationals this weekend.
