If you're in the frozen tundra that is Antarctica and find it difficult to meet new people, you can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
Two scientists on the frigid continent found one another using Tinder, the popular location-based dating app, New York Magazine reports.

A male American scientist fired up Tinder on a whim while conducting research on the southern tip of Ross Island to see if any women were also looking for love. He didn't find any results on his first try, but after expanding his location radius, another researcher popped up — a mere 45-minute helicopter ride away.
The man chose to remain anonymous in New York because he didn't want his Internet privileges revoked if the government disapproved of his recreational browsing.
Tinder tracks data in every country except Antarctica; Rosette Pambakian, a spokesperson for the company, said she believes this is the first time two users have matched on the continent. It's all the more unexpected given that that population decreased following its government shutdown last fall.
Approximately 1,000 people live on the continent's mainland, according to the CIA.
The company acknowledged the meet-up on Twitter:

"Antarctica is surprising for us because there already aren't too many people there in the first place," Pambakian said. "We're thrilled to hear that Tinder is working in such remote places."
The two met up a few weeks after they both swiped right, but only for a short time; she was leaving Antarctica the next day. Love might still stand a chance, though, as she plans to return to the continent.
"She was quite literally camping in Antarctica, went on Tinder and found me," the anonymous scientist told New York. "It's mind blowing."
