thinking what to say Teesta river complexity reflects severely negative impacts on agriculture, communication, plantation, environment, fishery, poultry and so many things. The arising problems are threatening for the Boro cultivation in more than seven northern districts of Bangladesh. The heavily silted up Teesta, instead of being a savior becomes a threat to submerge thousands of hectares of land every year. If the shrinking proneness of the river continues in the same manner as it is going on now, in near future the river will be completely dead proving the ecological disasters of water management. The study, therefore, recommends the government of Bangladesh to take the following remedial measures: i. The GOB needs to mange Indian authority to stop or minimize the number of their proposed 23 dams in Sikim. ii. Dredging has become a must for the existence of river Teesta. iii. It is high time the GOB took initiatives to save the Teesta Barrage of Doani from being useless within a decade as the experts fear. iv. A thorough research was essential to determine how many reservoirs were there upstream, how much water was flowing down the Himalayas through a network of streams and rivers and how to manage the flow. v. The GOB needs to keep the country’s noted water experts in the loop on the interim agreement of Teesta water share. vi. The GOB needs to possess enough data on the total amount of water flowing down the Himalayas. vii. The GOB should look forward to finding newer headways to save the river Teesta from its gradual death even though the water treaty would not become 100% successful.
